Have you ever tried to help your son or daughter with their homework or a school project? In elementary school it’s pretty easy, but once your child enters middle school or high school, it starts getting a lot harder. Even if you know how to balance a quadratic equation, getting your son or daughter to work with you patiently isn’t a fun task for any parent. And getting help from a teacher isn’t usually a recipe for success, either.
So what are the benefits and advantages of hiring a private tutor? First, they aren’t your child’s teacher and they aren’t their parent, either. Private tutoring offers a fresh perspective and your child knows that their tutor is there to help.
While students might feel like they are returning to the same old grind after a fun and relaxing break, January is a time for new beginnings. The New Year presents a terrific opportunity for students to evaluate themselves and their goals. Below are some great ideas for parents and students, at any level, to keep academic performance at its highest level.
Biltmore Tutoring is pleased to announce a new partnership with Mindprint, and will offer their groundbreaking cognitive test which was developed by the University of Pennsylvania’s School of Medicine and NIH (and a 2018 Common Sense Education award winner). It takes about an hour for a student to complete the on-line assessment. The test is fun and is less of a standardized test and more of a series of fun puzzles!
The test evaluates Speed, Executive Function, Complex Reasoning, and Memory, along with ten other specific learning skills. Then, Mindprint’s educational experts create an individualized Student Profile. That document provides essential information about a student’s learning strengths and weaknesses.
Biltmore Tutoring’s SAT and ACT test prep classes, which have just been announced for the Spring of 2019, are affordable, effective, and allow students to prepare for the exam in five weeks.
These classes will prepare students for the tests which will take place in November and December. All books, practice materials, access to all of our incredibly effective test prep strategies, master’s degree instruction, the use of our student response system, and two free practice tests are included!
