Biltmore Tutoring’s Fall SAT and ACT Class Dates

September 20, 2016 By Brian Caskey

test prep classes

At Biltmore Tutoring, we do lots of private tutoring and test prep. However, we have also had great success with our small group test prep classes (in fact, some of our largest score increases came from class students, and especially ones who combined a class with a few private lessons to tune up with material that they needed a little one-on-one help with). Biltmore Tutoring’s SAT and ACT classes are affordable, effective, and allow students to prepare for their exams over a span of five Saturdays or five Sundays. All books, practice materials, access to all of our incredibly effective test prep strategies, master’s degree instruction, the use of our student response system, and two free practice tests are included!

Class dates and types for the Fall of 2016 are listed below.

What would Clinton’s ‘free college tuition’ plan mean for you?

September 11, 2016 By Brian Caskey

free college tuitionChoosing a state university over a private college could become more appealing, for many students, if Hillary Clinton becomes president.

Low- and middle-income students would pay nothing for tuition at in-state public colleges under a new part of her free college tuition plan. Any student whose family earns $85,000 or less would be eligible at first. The income level would go up by $10,000 each year until 2021, when anyone whose family makes $125,000 a year or less would go tuition-free.

What could this mean for your student? There is the possibility of free tuition. There is also the likelihood of fierce competition for spots at both public and private universities.

How test prep can (and will) improve your child’s ACT or SAT score

August 16, 2016 By Brian Caskey

test prepWhen studying for high-stakes standardized tests such as the SAT and the ACT, college test prep services can help students improve their scores and reduce their anxiety on test day. Some students study well on their own, but many benefit from outside help.

Such services range from free aids on the College Board website, to study guides and books available at your local library, to classes and one-on-one tutoring. At Biltmore Tutoring, we have found that a dedicated focus on test prep for 6-8 weeks (either through a class or private tutoring) is the most effective option.

Who benefits most from formal college prep services?

“We have found that many of the best classroom students are the most methodical, and therefore tend to be most negatively impacted by the ‘timed’ nature of the ACT and SAT,” explained Stacey Caskey, owner at Biltmore Tutoring. “For those students, test prep is the answer.”
